In order to allow for cheap and quick PCB prototyping, I built a custom reflow oven. This was done re-using parts I mostly had on hand. A small toaster oven was purchased, and a solid state relay was used to control the heating elements. A few thermistors were used for redundancy tracking of the chamber temperature.
Firmware running on an Arduino Uno was used to provide temperature control. Custom temperature profiles are written in order to provide highest re-flow success, even with highly sensitive components. The figure on the right displays actual temperature data during a reflow process.
